Serendipity can be a great source of invention, and indeed, most of our brilliant ideas are found in this manner. However, discoveries of serendipity often enchant us to such degree that we short-circuit beneficial structured analytical process in favor of the *silver bullet*.
The solution is to learn to add silver bullets to our holsters, but to continue looking for even better solutions. This is not a natural impulse but we can train ourselves into this thinking if we understand the pitfall.
Does this make sense to anyone?
